Microsoft Word 2007 Environment


Word 2007 is an amazing, powerful that can meet all your word processing needs, even though at first glance it might seem a bit intimidating. But once you've mastered the Word 2007,the new features and interface will outshine earlier versions in both power and usability.




Microsoft Word is a powerful word-processing software program that gives its users the tools to create a variety of professional documents. Word automatically checks your spelling and grammar, and corrects common mistakes. For example, if you type teh, Word will automatically change it to the. It even lets you insert charts, tables and pictures into your documents. Microsoft Word is the most widely used and according to most reviews, the most powerful and user-friendly word processor program available.



With Word, you are not limited to create letters and memos but you can also create documents such as sales reports and price lists. You can enhance a document by creating and adding graphics and tables all within Word. You can also use graphics and tables for newsletters and sales brochures.



When opening a MS Word 2007 window follow this following steps:



1. Make sure that the your computer is on and the Windows desktop is open.



2. Use your mouse to point to and click the button located on the left-hand corner of the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen.



3. The Windows Start menu pops up.



4. Click All Programs. The Menu cascades and all of the programs inside appear.



5. On the Menu, point to and click Microsoft Office. Depending on how many programs are installed on your computer and how they are organized, it might be a little difficult to find the Microsoft Word program. Once you click on Microsoft Word, the Word program screen will appear in a while depending on the speed of your computer.

6. Lastly, click Microsoft Word 2007.




Parts of Microsoft Word Window


  • Title Bar – It is used to show the name of the program.
  • Office Menu – Having a various commands for starting, opening, closing, saving, and printing files.
  • Quick Access Toolbar – A small toolbar floats above the tab names.
  • Command Tabs – Presented in the order in which you typically use them.
  • Command Group – It is tabs that are divided into named section.
  • Ribbon – It contains groups of command buttons with common purpose.
  • Rulers – It is used to align text, graphics, tables, and other elements in a document.
  • Scroll Bars – Allows you to view entire workbook by moving up, down, left or right.
  • Zoom – Allows you to get a close-up view of your file or zoom out to see more of the page at a reduced size.
  • Document Views – Setting an optimal view for your needs can make a tremendous difference in Word’s usability.
  • Status Bar – This row can be customized by right – clicking and selecting desired options.



Some tabs are always available, such as Home and View. Others come and go depending on what you're doing. Those are called contextual tabs.

For example, when you're working with a table, The Table Tools contextual tabs appears with two additional command tabs, Design and Layout. When you move the insertion point out the table, those tabs go away.

One of the annoyances in earlier versions of Word was that the Formatting Toolbar so far away from the text being edited that you had to move your mouse a great distance each time you wanted to format some text. 






Document Views

1. Print Layout View - shows most document features as they will print, including headers, footers, graphics and columns.

2. Full Screen View - shows the document in book - style columns, with a large font.

3. Web Layout View - shows the document as it will appear in a web browser. 

4. Outline View - shows the document as collapsible levels of headings, so you can see the documents structure at a glance.

5. Draft View - shows just the main text of the document.

ngayon ko lang nalaman ung gamit nung mga nasa document views.. ganun pala gamit nun.. salamat tlga dito .. sakto assignment pa naman namin to naun sa comp lab namin.. isusuggest ko to sa mga kaklase ko..

contextual tabs pala ang tawag dun sa nalabas sa may mga tabs.. kala tabs lang un..

this is great!.. i have my assignment now about the Microsoft Word 2010, but even though i need the higher one version of the said application, the information here gives more idea on how to answer the question to my assignment. thanks..

i need the parts of Microsoft word 2010 but this blog is such a really great help to me. the parts of Microsoft Word 2007 is the same in the environment of MS Word 2010 so nothing to worry about. may be there are some difference but it can actually not affect the definition of its parts of the two version of the application. ^^ thanks for this once again..
